Steve Stevens

Steve Stevens was appointed President of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce in June of 2006. His primary responsibilities are to manage the operations and affairs of the organization’s more than 2,100 members. The Northern Kentucky Chamber is a 5-Star Accreditated Chamber of Commerce by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce – one of only approximately 50 such designations in America. Prior to his appointment as president, he was the Chamber’s Senior Vice President and spent more than 12 years in Public Affairs for the Chamber where he advocated the business perspective on public policy issues to the legislature, federal and local government officials. He served as the Chamber’s legislative agent at the capitol.

Stevens first got into Chamber work in 1991 when he was hired to develop a small business division for the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. He served as Director of Government Affairs and Small Business and served as a lobbyist for the State Chamber. Other responsibilities included managing a legislative grassroots program, providing issue briefings and facilitating strategic planning efforts for local chambers of commerce across the state. Stevens served as president of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives and he is an active member of the Metro Cities Council of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives. He serves on the board of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. He is a graduate of the Institute for Organization Management in Athens, GA, the Center for Creative Leadership and Leadership Kentucky. He earned the Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) designation from the American Chamber of Commerce Executives – the only national certification for chamber of commerce executives. He serves the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as a member of the Committee of 100.

Prior to Chamber work, he worked nearly seven years in his family’s mechanical contracting firm in GreaterCincinnati where he served as Vice President. He earned a Master Plumber’s license in the City of Cincinnati during his tenure at his family’s business.

Stevens is a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He is a lifelong resident of Northern Kentucky and has served numerous volunteer organizations. He served as national president of Alpha Delta Gamma men’s collegiate fraternity. Steve is involved with the Boy Scouts of America and serves on the board of directors of the Dan Beard Council and is District Chairman of Northern Kentucky’s Trailblazer District.

An avid runner and cyclist, he is a certified Spinning instructor. He is a co-founder of Legacy, a young persons’ leadership training organization and a co-founder of the Regional Youth Leadership program now housed at the NKY Chamber of Commerce. He resides in Taylor Mill with his wife Marilyn and two sons.
